CELEBRATE IN BRITANNIA VILLAGE

The Sea to Sky Gallery is pleased to announce its new exhibition which will feature works by local photographer Mark Fromson. As a member of Burning Man’s official Documentation Team, he has documented the event extensively and the Burning Man Photography Exhibition at Sea to Sky Gallery is his first solo exhibition. In 2024 he was named Event Photographer of the Year in the non-professional division of the International Photography Awards and his works have been exhibited in Italy, Hungary, Greece and Thailand. His work has also appeared in Forbes, The Globe & Mail and Sotheby’s Magazine. The opening reception is being held on August 22nd from 5pm-9pm and the show runs until September 10th. The Sea to Sky Gallery in Britannia Village is thrilled that its upcoming dual exhibition opening July 24 will showcase the works of two Squamish-based artists whose works capture the majesty of the natural world while exploring the threats and challenges it faces. Mathias Horne uses his acrylic paintings to support initiatives on the forefront of wildlife protection. Combining traditional painting with insights gained from working alongside explorers, scientists, and NGOs to create projects, his works offer audiences immersive experiences which sit at the intersection of fine art and scientific insight. We’ve started a new summer Sunday tradition in Britannia Village with our Sunday Makers a weekly pop-up celebrating local artists, makers and small businesses. From candlemaker and handmade jewelry to fragrances, illustrations and vintage clothing, Sunday Makers is a chance to see the creations of local makers and artisans at Britannia Village. The event runs from 1pm-5pm each Sunday until the Labour Day weekend, weather permitting! If you create something by hand and would like to join us, there’s no vendor fee, just an opportunity to share your work with locals and travellers making their way along the Sea to Sky. This summer, Sea to Sky Gallery and Britannia Village will be hosting a weekly art walk based on the legendary Playa del Carmen CaminArte. Beginning August 1st, local artists and creators will set up throughout the village each Saturday from 3pm to 8pm allowing art lovers and visitors to take in the works on display at their own pace, interacting with the artists and enjoying the unique Britannia Village historic setting where Howe Sound meets the Coast Mountains. With restaurants and shopping to enjoy, the art walk will be a unique opportunity to experience the beauty of Sea to Sky Country and the artistic spirit it inspires in the people who call it home.
