Dual exhibition coming to Sea to Sky Gallery

The Sea to Sky Gallery in Britannia Village is thrilled that its upcoming dual exhibition opening July 24 will showcase the works of two Squamish-based artists whose works capture the majesty of the natural world while exploring the threats and challenges it faces.

Mathias Horne uses his acrylic paintings to support initiatives on the forefront of wildlife protection. Combining traditional painting with insights gained from working alongside explorers, scientists, and NGOs to create projects, his works offer audiences immersive experiences which sit at the intersection of fine art and scientific insight.

UK born Jack Plant has spent the past decade documenting the natural world, with a particular focus on the Great Bear Rainforest of British Columbia. His work bridges the gap between art and conservation to reveal the beauty, fragility, and profound human connection to the natural world.

The opening nights for this dual exhibition are Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25 from 5pm to 7pm and it will run until August 23. Gallery hours are 12 noon to sunset Thursday to Monday, 3pm to sunset Tuesday and Wednesday, and by appointment. Follow along at @seatoskygallery for gallery latest news.

Sunday Makers at Britannia Village

We’re starting something we’d love to see become a Sunday tradition.

Beginning this summer, Britannia Village will be home to Sunday Makers, a weekly pop-up celebrating local artists, makers and small businesses.

If you create something by hand, grow it, bake it, design it or dream it up, we’d love to have you join us.There’s no vendor fee, just an opportunity to share your work with locals and travellers making their way along the Sea to Sky.

Weekly art walk coming to Britannia Village

This summer, Sea to Sky Gallery and Britannia Village will be hosting a weekly art walk based on the legendary Playa del Carmen CaminArte. Beginning August 1st, local artists and creators will set up throughout the village each Saturday from 3pm to 8pm allowing art lovers and visitors to take in the works on display at their own pace, interacting with the artists and enjoying the unique Britannia Village historic setting where Howe Sound meets the Coast Mountains.

With restaurants and shopping to enjoy, the art walk will be a unique opportunity to experience the beauty of Sea to Sky Country and the artistic spirit it inspires in the people who call it home. Learn more about attending or exhibiting at @seatoskygallery.

Britannia Village was profiled in a CBC News segment about the decades-long revitalization effort which has brought life to the Britannia Mine townsite some 50 years after the mine closed. Over the years, Britannia’s population, once as high as 1,200 dwindled to a few dozen hardy soul living in a place once described as the “worst source of metal pollution in North America.”

Britannia Village Honoured with Heritage BC Award

On May 5th, Heritage BC announced the recipients of the 2026 Heritage BC Awards, recognizing outstanding achievements in heritage conservation, education, leadership, and community impact across the province. Britannia Village and Macdonald Communities were honoured to be named a recipient of an “Outstanding Conservation Award” for the years-long project to revitalize the historic company town on the original Britannia Mine townsite.

In the award citation, Heritage BC noted: “The project revitalized a historic company town by integrating commercial and residential uses, employee housing, and community amenities . . . the heritage value lies in preserving a collection of original historic buildings, maintaining key alignments and relationships while relocating some structures to new foundations . . .”

Britannia Day set to take place Sunday, May 17th!

Britannia Village is celebrating the 100^th Anniversary of the first Britannia Mine townsite Copper Queen celebration in 1926 by launching Britannia Day, a new community festival.

On, Sunday, May 17^th this spring festival will include a kids bike parade, arts & crafts sale, patio parties, and an art walk. There will be something for everyone to enjoy!

Sign on for the Kids Bike Parade will be between 10 and 11am with every participating kid receiving prizes like a free Mine Museum entry, free ice cream, and free GranFondo water bottle. Theres’s no cost to enter but a parent or guardian must be on hand to sign a waiver.
Live music and DJs will run all day highlighted by a set from BC favourite WiL at 6pm in Memorial Park.
The Arts & Crafts Fair will take place in the Community Hall from noon-6pm.
The Art Walk will showcase local artists and their work throughout the village starting at noon.

New exhibition at the Sea to Sky Gallery

The Sea to Sky Gallery is hosting a photography exhibition by British Columbia landscape photographer CJ Stead. His work captures the raw beauty of the natural world through light, texture, and atmosphere, focusing on mountains, deserts, forests, and coastal scenes that evoke a sense of calm and connection. Chris aims to showcase the quiet power of nature and inspire others to explore it.

The Christopher J. Stead photography exhibition opening is Thursday, May 7 from 3 PM to 7 PM and the exhibition will be up until June 3 at the Sea to Sky Gallery.

Sea to Sky Gallery Community Show

The Sea to Sky Gallery is hosting a Community Art Show featuring works from artists from the Sea to Sky region of North Vancouver to Pemberton. Local artists are invited to submit up to two pieces for consideration for this how. Accepted pieces will be placed in the gallery on April 14, and the formal exhibition will be April 17 and 18, from noon until sunset and by appointment.

The pieces displayed up to April 28 depending on the artist desires and there will be no commission charged on the sale of these pieces.The Sea to Sky Gallery .
